How did you start your business?
Basically I am a food technologist, has done my B.Tech in food technology. During my working tenure of 12 years in the industry, I got a chance to work with MITCON Consultancies & Engineering services ltd. Where I worked as an entrepreneurship development trainer and found a gap of the technical handhold support was missing for the upcoming entrepreneurs in food industry. Food processing industry in India has been growing at a faster pace as lots of entrepreneurs are showing interest to enter in the market. However the lack of technical knowledge and hand holding support to these budding entrepreneurs is missing. Hence a Food Monk consultant LLP is established primarily to provide the technical support to those startups and existing food processing industries. Providing the quality service to our customers by suggesting the right technological approach and Techno commercial feasibility is our main value proposition.
Can you give us brief introduction about your company?
Food Monk Consultants LLP is a service providing company. We only work for the packaged food industry. Our major activities involves R&D, New Product Development, Turnkey solutions, manufacturing unit setup, shelf life improvement, Packaging improvement, concept to commercialization of the products, We also help brands to find out the right co packer for their products and a complete solution to supervise their production at third party manufacturing plants. This service is especially started for our out of India clients. We do also provide Trainings for GMP (Good manufacturing practices), GHP (Good Hygienic practices) ,Food safety etc. We provide consultancy to all the categories of processed food industry like milk & dairy products, non alcoholic beverages, millet based products, baby & Toddler food products, spices, RTE (ready to eat) products, RTC (Ready to cook) products, Extruded snacks, chocolates & Confectionary etc. Our Vision is to foster innovation and become India’s foremost consultancy in the package food industry. And our mission is to help 1000+ start-ups across India by 2032 and turn them into success stories.
How do you differentiate your business in the market?
Yes our business is quite different from other businesses. We are in to very niche segment. We deal with only food processing industry and that too we are not in to manufacturing of food products but in to the consulting sector. There are many consultants who are working in the field but very few are working in an organized way. There are only few consulting companies in India who has corporate structures and proudly we are one of them. Our approach, attitude, and vision everything is different.

How do you keep yourself updated on your business?
Of course we have to keep ourselves updated all the time as food processing industry is evolving rapidly. I have to read and learn new things about the world’s food industry. We keep an eye on the new developments are happening in India and abroad especially in US, UK and Europe. We do study of the UAE market and its requirement time to time. We do attend various exhibitions arranged in India and UAE to keep ourselves updated about the new products, ingredient and technologies coming in the market.

What advice would you give to someone just starting their own business?
Starting a new business is definitely a great thing. But we have to keep in mind that its not all rosy cozy things. As an entrepreneur we have to face lot of challenges everyday and overcome them. We need hard work, smart work, consistency, persistence, dedication etc. Always have plan B & C ready in worst case scenarios. An entrepreneur needs to maintain his/her cool. Give at least 1000 days to your business; take care of it like your own baby. But at the same time don’t fall in love with your business and don’t get emotionally attach to it. If it’s not working even after all the efforts, take a wise decision on time and move ahead. Don’t fear to chase your dreams. Its takes time, so be patient.
