Mr. Mahavir Banthia, a printer with a flair for creating versatile and artistic of diaries, has Pune rightfully looking up to him when it comes to things innovative and original.
Born in Borsal, a small village in Madhya Pradesh’s Burhanpur, destiny saw him shift to Kasaray in Dhule district of Maharashtra for education. Pune’s famed Fergusson College was where he did his 10th from followed by another halloed institution, the COEP for his Master’s in Printing Technology, which he accomplished with distinction!

An employment-averse fighter from a young age, Mr. Banthia always wanted to live life on his terms. His dream fructified in the year 2000 with ‘Mahavir Prints.’ Despite the lack of a background in printing, he persevered taking steps seasoned entities feared taking like the use of high-end technology then available.
A lone fighter, he had the support of his long-time friend, teacher, guide, philosopher, and well-wisher, Mr. Bharatji Mehta. The year 2000 was eventful for Mr. Banthia in other ways. Besides his new venture, he found a life-partner in Ms. Mamta. Zestful and industrious as ever, Mr. Mahavir Banthia made sure his business venture and his family life never lead to a clash.

The first few years in business went in understanding the pulse of the industry, and so too his clients. These were the times when he barely made anything for himself while providing priceless services to his clients. Printing their books, brochures, balance-sheets, and financial statements, newsletters, and the likes, he found his niche in the creation and printing of exquisite diaries, a field in which he is the best in Pune today!

Diaries store a variety of information personal or professional right from the deepest of thoughts and emotions to anniversaries, birthdays, notable events, addresses, and myriad other bits of information. Be it an industrialist, artist, politician, shopkeeper, housewife, or even a student, all of them use diaries. The Mahavir Printing saga has seen its share of ups and downs though nothing prepared them for the set-back in the year 2007. It was to do with a machine they imported from Germany against a loan. They were in for a shock when they discovered that the machine supplied was, in reality, SCRAP. A heap of metal, they had to sell it for a pittance with the sum thus recovered going towards paying off the loan.

The combined concerns of unpaid loans, interests, rent of the land taken for the machine, and added mental agony took its toll. Mr. Banthia spent close to 3 months in the ICU. It was his sheer will power and the rock-steady support of his wife that helped him recover fast. So fast that within a short three years, Mahavir Printers did business worth INR 3 crores!
