The words of the legendary Chairman of General Electric, Jack Welch fit every bit for Pallavi Sable!

Meeting her for the first time in her spacious office in one of Pune’s well known business districts, what strikes you are the numerous awards, many from Rotary. A born Rotarian and a Major Donor, she imbibed the spirit of Rotary very early on with her earliest remembrances being her father the illustrious Shri Sudhir Sable’s Rotary diaries and memorabilia. These fond memories etched in her mind, she too joined Rotary and today is a very active and dedicated Rotarian busy initiating innumerable projects and accomplishing them, that too at a blistering pace!

Within 6 months of joining the Rotary Club Of Poona Downtown she became the treasurer, and rose to be Secretary a year later, President-elect in the next year and then became its President in 2016-17.

As President, she set a record of sorts by accomplishing 130 Great and impactful projects in 365 days, covering the entire district and all the 6 focus areas of Rotary! Projects conducted in Synergy with more than 50 other clubs was another highlight of the year. She received several awards, including the Best President Award that year.

As the District Chair for Women in Rotary in the year 2017-18, she was instrumental in increasing women’s Membership in Rotary by an astounding 2.5%. Rtn Pallavi continued her blistering streak in Rotary in 2018-19 too. As the District Chair for RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards for building leadership qualities in the youth), the Clubs in the District successfully conducted more than 100 RYLA programs under her leadership. Her commitment and passion for Youth is unflagging. She believes that by mentoring, guiding and empowering the young people, we are contributing to the real wealth creation for the nation. Our youth Power is our most valuable resource!

Continuing her pace of initiating fruitful projects, the year 2019-20 saw her as the District Rotaract Committee Chair besides being the Chair for TRF, Special Events Planning and Promotion, and Literacy. As District Rotaract Committee Chair (DRCC), she was instrumental in starting 23 new Rotaract clubs which more than doubled the membership. Under her able guidance and leadership, the Rotaract District won several awards. She is a Master Planner, Administrator and Executor and the last year saw her have a brilliant innings as an Assistant Governor.

Powering her way ahead, the current Rotary year sees her as the District Director ‘Synergy’. Bringing people together, she’s been connecting clubs and Rotarians, Rural and Urban and helping them collaborate all for a great cause!

Forever thoughtful of women’s welfare and empowerment (and rightly so given that her company Sable and Waghire’s majority employees are women), she presides over the functioning of WIMA Pune, a Women Industrialist and Entrepreneurs organization as President. She is also the Honorary Secretary of the Pune chapter of ACCiWA, and part of the Poona Women’s Council, and was the President of Women’s International.

A true patriot, her vision to help the country is really unique. She believes that Charity begins at home, and is a Woman of Action! She stresses that supporting the people in order to make them self-reliant will bring a life of Dignity to every Indian. Be it accomplishing projects in Rotary or thru myriad other organizations, her role she says is to help bring resources to where it’s most needed. She extends her support and energies to all those in need. She is an avid patron of our rich traditional Handloom and Handicraft industry and would like to play a larger role in ensuring its survival and success in the future.

Spectacular as it is, she does all this while being the Director of Sable Waghire and Company Pvt Ltd., one of India’s leading companies in the Bidi Industry. Started by her Grandfather in the year 1933, she is the 3rd generation overseeing the diverse interests of the Sable Group which includes Real Estate, construction and confectionary.

Securing Distinction throughout her education, her schooling took place from Pune’s famed St Anne’s High School followed with a Degree in Psychology from Pune’s legendary Fergusson College and a course in HR Management from IMDR simultaneously. For her Masters, she specialized in Clinical Psychology from the Savitribai Phule Pune University and is also an Alumni of IIM, Bangalore. She has a Diploma in Jewellery Design too!

With a deep set interest in human behaviour across situations, and deep spiritual values ingrained by the belief in Shree Swami Samarth of Akkalkot, she entered the world of Psychological Counseling. Spending more than 2 decades in the profession and having done her share of good for people, she was expected back in the family fold to help manage the Company with New Ideas and carry forth the legacy and shoulder the big responsibility of this huge employment provider business. Now well settled in managing the family business, she has witnessed it go through its share of Trials and Tribulations, but never once left the path of good and the larger interest of humanity and compassion for its workforce in spite of the biggest challenges.

The Sable Group’s CSR initiatives include large Donations to the Shankarshet Sable Institute of Ophthalmology, Desai Eye Hospital and running the Ayodhya Charitable Trust for the Deaf and Dumb among others. This Philanthropy is very much part of Pallavi’s personality too as in college she recorded whole text books for the blind, worked for the Bone Marrow Foundation USA, and Counselled HIV and T.B patients. She is also a Bach Flower Therapist. Her genuine love for people, places, travel, nature and art is amazing! A Positive Attitude and looking at every experience as an opportunity to learn is what contributes to her Zest for life!

It’s difficult to pin down someone who thinks and acts 24 x 7 for the betterment of fellow humans. Passion and compassion topped up with an infectious smile is a winning combination! This is our humble effort to describe an illustrious one! Industrialist and Rotarian Pallavi Sable is destined to take organizations and projects she associates with to the next level in every way possible without losing the Human Touch with her drive and passion!
