While copper is one of the most durable metals signifying health & the idea’s strength, the numeral 11 shows their intention to be present in 11 places, from continents, countries, and cities. Yes, you got it correct: in 11 countries (remember there are only seven continents, which means they are all over the world!), 11 cities in every country, and 11 locations in every city. That way, in time, they shall cover practically every country worth covering. Establishments on the ground, while they provide the best accommodation and services, are designed to make commercial sense each time, given that they intend to lease properties and involve themselves only in maintaining and managing the brand.
Genesis of the idea!
Akshay Bahirat’s love for dogs has taken him (and his price-winning dogs) to dog shows all over India, where the latter are known for their tricks. That said, travelling in such a company isn’t easy. They need space and services that are best provided by Western-style service apartments, which have multiple rooms, beds, baths, and gadgets for easy living.
In India, Akshay found the standard lacking, sometimes severely, until Copper 11 Service Apartments set new benchmarks. He says, “Most places are small studio apartments with just a single room with four walls. Some are very, very shabby. Some don’t have proper beds, and in some places, they don’t even give linens or bedsheets. It’s inhuman even for us. What should we say about dogs?
What focused his attention on starting a service apartment brand in India included his frequent business trips across the country, which made him realize the lack of comfortable accommodations and food—in direct contrast to comfortable stays in serviced apartments on his overseas trips. Add to it his business mindset and the sector being relatively untapped. Their first set-up came about in the uber-corporate environs of Senapati Bapat Road in Pune, which sees massive footfall, what with several MNC offices and educational institutes just a stone’s throw away.
The jarring take-off!
Taxiing down the entrepreneurial runway with clear skies overhead, Akshay had no idea he would hit a massive air pocket immediately on take-off: the COVID lockdown. While it was challenging to keep things running with practically zero occupancy, like always, the prevailing bleak conditions presented their own silver lining: enquiries for independent apartments by those stuck in the city with everything around closed down! With the unexpected clouds departing just as unexpectedly, these are sunshine times for Copper 11 Service Apartments, with Akshay seeing things philosophically as “good days have arrived”!

The scion of a family with multiple interests, most thankfully coinciding with his present venture, Akshay Bahirat is all said still “hands-on”. While the organization is hierarchical, with him being at the top and managers being delegated essential functions, it is Akshay’s words that are final. A bit old school by his own admission, he lets his folks give suggestions which he gives his considered opinions. But once he decides, the buck stops just there. Period. While it may seem inflexible, in reality, it makes things easy by being decisive and firm.

Right now, India is being equipped at the most frequented places, be it by travellers, business people, or students. The last is the most promising, given how the Indian youth has been bitten by the “foreign university” bug but wants to retain the thing about homely accommodation and food.
