Their maximum project size has been a jaw-dropping 120000 sq ft across floors and a humongous 63000 sq ft on a single floor! Bahar emphasizes a comprehensive approach, offering one-roof services that include interior designing, civil interior contracting, electrical, AC, data networking, fire safety, modular furniture, and more. “Our forte lies in delivering quality projects within specified timelines and costs,” Bahar explains. “We can fit things in ₹1800 per square foot, while competitors often charge ₹2200. Additionally, if others take 75 days to complete a project, we aim to do it in 60 days. This commitment to efficiency and cost-effectiveness sets us apart.”
That said, the one trait that truly sets him apart is his habit of over-delivering- sometimes even without promising! He gets a “kick” in going the extra mile, be it to do with ideas, material or designs. He is known for spending outside the scope of the contract- if he thinks it will make the project worthwhile, be it in terms of looks, feel or functionality. “My record ever since I came into the field is that once a client comes to me, they rarely go elsewhere,” Bahar proudly states. “For example, we have completed a single project of 110,000 square feet for Emerson Engineering and multiple projects for APEX Fund Services, ranging from 54,000 to 63,000 square feet in Pune alone.” His going solo is a testament to this fact, as one of his customers literally funded his venture with a big order and a substantial advance- so much so that the customer adamantly insisted on working only with them on these terms!
The Journey to Success
His journey to becoming a successful entrepreneur is marked by resilience & adaptability. Shooting his share of arrows towards his goal of entrepreneurship, most hit their targets bang on. Commercial interior contracting happened when other avenues dried up, some due to a change in scenario, others due to tech obsolesces. Starting afresh in a new field in 2000, things looked up in just a couple of years, only to face another major setback: Bahar met with a terrible road accident. Not one to take things “lying down”, he bounced back by working in tandem with Team-one Architects, a renowned name in the industry and later with an architect friend, gradually building on his profile, portfolio and experience.
In 2015, with solid credentials and a name in the market, Bahar took the plunge and established Innovative Interior. “Since 2015, we have completed almost 18-19 lakh square feet of work,” Bahar shares. Helping in this journey has been his background in electronic engineering. A valuable asset, it enables him to understand the quantitative aspect of things while measuring e things correctly with speed and accuracy and executing technical aspects with precision and finesse.
The Future of Innovative Interior
In the pink of health and happiness these days, Bahar is satisfied with what he has achieved and envisions a future where Innovative Interior, continues to thrive and expand at the same pace. A genuinely significant innovation that has the world talking- including his ever-happy clients has been the introduction of interior fit-out rentals, where Bahar invests in the interiors and recovers the same through monthly EMIs. This approach not only helps clients manage their finances but also strengthens long-term relationships besides being a great and active “passive” income for them.

Beyond his professional achievements, Bahar is a devoted family man. He speaks fondly of his daughter Sharvaree, pursuing higher studies in luxury brand management in the UK. “I’m trying to bring my daughter into the business, but she’s yet to decide. If she joins, there’s a platter ready for her,” Bahar shares with pride. His significant other half, Deepa, is always by his side, an HR professional and active Rotarian like himself. She knows his team inside and out and is the reason behind their high motivation.
Despite his busy schedule, Bahar ensures a work-life balance that includes cooking, a constant and ongoing stress-buster. Known for his myriad biryanis and meaty treats, he attributes his success to the support of his family and a dedicated team that shares his passion for excellence.
